Little known to tourists, the Rio Térraba pier in Ciudad Cortes is nevertheless worth the detour if you are looking for typical places of great beauty at sunset. Incredible viewpoint on the banks of Rio Térraba, the atmosphere at the end of the week at dusk is local and very pleasant, with sometimes itinerant sellers of local food or grilled meats. You can get there like most locals by bike, after having visited the center of Cortés, and discover the historic road leading to Puerto Jimenez. A Taxi Boat can take you across to the other bank to reach Sierpe via the palm groves. Along the way, don't miss the remains of the banana companies that once transported goods through this landing stage to organize trade throughout the region.



Architectural cultural heritage of Costa Rica, the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Palmar Sur is worth the detour to admire its typical and charming architecture, one of the rare vestiges of the era and historical memory of Palmar and the Canton. A few hundred meters away, you can also take the opportunity to admire the “maquina Negra”, a former locomotive of the banana company.
